Fictional chemical teaching sheet

Practice Solvent S-04

S-04 / training revision 2 · General-industry learning example

FICTIONAL TRAINING ONLY—NOT A REAL SDS. No real product, chemical composition, CAS number, exposure data, glove compatibility or medical guidance is supplied. Do not use this sheet for an actual chemical, task, emergency or approval.

This sixteen-section layout helps learners find information and recognize limits. OSHA does not enforce the content of sections 12–15; other agencies may regulate those topics. The label and sheet use original fictional teaching inputs, not a classification exercise or supplier document.

1. Identification

Practice Solvent S-04. Supplied use: small-quantity wipe cleaning at the designated training bench. Fictional supplier: Example Training Supply, 100 Learning Way, Example City, SC 00000; 202-555-0144 (reserved fictional number—do not call). No actual chemical or emergency contact is represented.

2. Hazard identification

Supplied teaching classification: flammable liquid category 2; eye irritation category 2A; specific target organ toxicity, single exposure category 3 (narcotic effects). Signal word: Danger. Pictograms: flame and exclamation mark. Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness. These are fictional inputs, not a classification of a real product.

3. Composition / information on ingredients

Fictional training mixture. No real ingredient identities, concentrations or CAS numbers are assigned. This deliberate teaching limitation makes the sheet unusable for actual exposure assessment, chemical identification or product approval.

4. First-aid measures

Supplied response assumptions: stop exposure and summon designated assistance. For eye exposure, use the supplied eyewash/emergency procedure; for inhalation concerns, withdraw from the exposure area if safe. Actual first aid must follow the real product SDS and site emergency/medical arrangements. This fictional sheet is not a medical reference.

5. Fire-fighting measures

Flammable vapor is a supplied hazard. Keep ignition sources out of the task area before work begins. In a fire or uncertain release, the learner withdraws and notifies designated personnel under the supplied plan; no firefighting is assigned or practiced.

6. Accidental release measures

Supplied role: chemical user, not spill responder. For an unexpected release of uncertain size or vapor conditions, stop work, move to the designated safe location, keep others away without entering the hazard, and notify the designated contact. Do not wipe, neutralize, investigate by smell, or restart the task on your own. A trained response and an actual all-clear remain outside this exercise.

7. Handling and storage

Use only the supplied compatible, closable workplace container; keep it identified for handoff. The assigned task uses the designated local-exhaust bench and ignition controls. Store S-04 in the designated compatible flammables area, away from oxidizers. Container suitability, quantities, cabinets and fire-code requirements require actual employer/manufacturer review.

8. Exposure controls / personal protection

For this fictional task only, supplied record V-04 reports functioning task ventilation. Supplied assessment G-04 identifies a product/task-compatible glove after material/permeation review, plus splash eye protection under the task assessment. No actual glove material, model, breakthrough time or respirator is prescribed. Real ingredient exposure limits, engineering controls and PPE selection remain unresolved by this teaching sheet; no exposure-limit finding is claimed.

9. Physical and chemical properties

Teaching state: liquid. The label classification is supplied rather than calculated here. No validated flash point, boiling range, vapor pressure, density or odor threshold is assigned. Appearance or odor cannot identify an unknown container or establish acceptable exposure.

10. Stability and reactivity

Supplied incompatibility: keep S-04 apart from Practice Oxidizer O-04 and other incompatible oxidizing materials. Do not mix products. Actual stability, hazardous reactions and conditions/materials to avoid must be reviewed in the real product SDS.

11. Toxicological information

The fictional hazard statements address eye irritation and possible drowsiness/dizziness. No measured toxicological data, dose-response relationship or safe exposure level is assigned. A pictogram or lack of symptoms cannot establish protection.

12. Ecological information

No environmental testing is assigned. Do not infer environmental safety from the absence of the environment pictogram. Follow actual environmental controls and spill arrangements.

13. Disposal considerations

No real waste classification or disposal route is assigned. Keep waste identified and managed through the employer’s actual reviewed waste procedure; do not assume drain disposal is acceptable.

14. Transport information

No real transport classification, UN number, packing group or shipping authorization is assigned. Workplace pictograms do not replace transport-specific labels and requirements.

15. Regulatory information

This is not a compliance statement or a real regulatory SDS. Actual product, workplace, jurisdiction and related rules require separate review. OSHA does not enforce SDS content in sections 12–15; other agencies may regulate those topics.

16. Other information / revision

Training revision 2 is the current sheet in this fictional case register. Revision 1 is archived for this exercise, and C-04 is a different product. Match the identifier, formulation/supplier context and applicable current information; date alone does not prove a match. Developed for Jenkins Academy of Applied Technology. All products, people, records and data are fictional.
