About

Welcome! I’m Todd Jerome Jenkins, a U.S. Army veteran, journeyman carpenter, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), author, and educator with over 30 years of practical experience in occupational safety and health. My career spans field operations, executive safety leadership, and academic research. I specialize in building safety management systems that transform and sustain safety culture.

I’ve worked with leaders to develop safety management systems that transform safety cultures in the construction, manufacturing, and equipment rental industries. Creating safety management systems that reduce risk, strengthen accountability, and enhance safety outcomes by fostering safety as a shared value. Today, I use that experience to develop tools, training, and resources that help others achieve the same results with clarity and confidence.

Why I Do This

I began my career in the trades, working hands-on as an apprentice and journeyman carpenter and later as a superintendent. Early on, I witnessed a preventable incident that left a lasting impact on me. That moment shaped my purpose and ignited a lifelong commitment to improving how organizations protect people.

Rather than settling for compliance checklists or reactive fixes, I set out to transform safety culture by building better systems. Safety management systems that engage frontline workers, promote shared learning, control risk, and instill safety as a shared value. I believe that safety should be intentional, adaptive, and rooted in how people really work. That belief drives everything I do.

My Background

Military Discipline
My leadership journey began in the U.S. Army, where I learned the importance of structure, accountability, and a mission-first mindset. The military instilled in me a systems mindset, one that understands how culture is shaped not by slogans, but by shared expectations, continuous training, and consistent follow-through. These lessons became the foundation for how I lead safety today: by building cultures where clarity, ownership, and resilience are the norm.

Construction Expertise
I advanced from apprentice to journeyman to project superintendent, leading complex builds in high-risk environments. My early years in the field gave me firsthand knowledge of the challenges workers face, and the blind spots leaders often overlook, insight that continues to shape my approach to transforming safety culture.

Leadership in Safety
Over the past two decades, I’ve developed and implemented safety management systems aligned with national and international standards. My initiatives have resulted in measurable reductions in incident rates, improved training outcomes, and stronger safety culture across multi-site operations. I’ve trained hundreds of supervisors, built digital safety infrastructure, and coached leaders to integrate safety into everyday decisions.

Academic & Professional Excellence
I hold a Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, and I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Occupational Safety and Health, with research focused on systems theory, Human Organizational Performance, and safety culture. I’ve earned multiple certifications, published books, and presented at national safety conferences. My work bridges academic insight and practical execution, delivering solutions that work in the real world.
